East Bank riverwalk briefing, 2026

In 2026 NIEBNA walked the East Bank riverwalk from Father Hennepin Bluffs toward Nicollet Island with a short list: cracked pavers near Main Street, a missing wayfinding sign at 6th Avenue SE, and the usual question of where weekend visitors stash bikes when the Stone Arch Bridge fills up.

Board members compared notes with park users who had come downtown for the Saturday market. The riverwalk is still the neighborhood's front porch. When it is blocked by construction fencing or a cluster of delivery vans, people cut through residential alleys, which is why we keep asking for advance notice before a contractor occupies the path.
