Invitation to Public Meeting – Proposed Water Circulation Pumping Station on Nicollet Island

This month, the City is hosting a public meeting to tell Nicollet Island residents about plans to install a water circulation pumping station in the community. You’re welcome to stop by to learn about this project and talk to staff from the Water Treatment and Distribution services division of Public Works.

Public meeting on proposed water circulation pumping station

7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17

DeLaSalle High School, Room A219

Please park in the main lot (there should be plenty of spots) and enter the set of double doors under the clock-tower (closest to downtown). The room we’ll meet in is A219, it’s up the stairs to the right and is the first room on the left (across from the library)

The proposed pumping station as currently envisioned would be relatively small, taking up approximately a 20-foot square plot of land on a slope adjacent to the First Avenue Bridge at East Island Avenue. The main purpose of the pumping station is to improve water system circulation for everyone on the island, which will decrease the risk of water mains freezing. An overview of the project will be presented at the public meeting, followed by a question-and-answer session.

If you have any questions about the public meeting, please contact Peter Pfister, the City’s project manager (contact information below).
